Portrait of an Artist — Charles Rockey

On Monday I visited an old friend. Charles Rockey is a painter and lives in Manitou Springs. "Rockey," as he is affectionately known is synonymous with Manitou. He's an incredible painter who regularly loans his work to friends. I first met Rockey in 2000 and photographed him. One of my all time favorites portraits shows Rockey with his dog Puppy. (It's on my Facebook page) I hadn't seen Rockey again until yesterday when I photographed him on assignment for the Colorado Springs Independent. Rockey's studio on main street displays a lifetime of imagination at work. After the shoot, Rockey invited me to lunch and we spent some time catching up. It was a joy to see him and I'm really looking forward to showing him the pictures. — Sean
