Danielle and Dietmar's Broadmoor Wedding (Sneak Peek)

You might remember Danielle and Dietmar from their engagement sitting here. I photographed their wedding on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at the Broadmoor Hotel. Danielle and Dietmar planned an intimate destination wedding with their closest friends and family in attendance. Maggie of Celebrations by Maggie did a fantastic job planning and coordinating their wedding day. We didn't escape the rainy weather on Saturday, but their ceremony was held outside at the Mountain View Terrace which offers a covered patio. So while it was wet, it didn't rain on our parade:) We were also fortunate to do their bride and groom portraits before the rain came. Still, I couldn't resist dashing out during their reception to make this romantic photograph (see below). Stay tuned for a slide show of Danielle and Dietmar's Broadmoor wedding soon! — Sean

Erin and Austin's Shove Chapel Wedding

Erin and Austin were married Saturday, Aug. 15 at Shove Chapel on the Colorado College campus with a reception at the Fine Arts Center. I posted a sneak peek of their wedding here. Photos were important to them so we planned extra time before their ceremony for pictures with their wedding party. We started at the Broadmoor and then we shot in an alley downtown. We also made some dramatic bridal portraits of Erin in Shove Chapel. Liz of Ambience Florals did an incredible job with their flowers as well as their reception decor. The dining room was decorated with columns of limes in water, a perfect accent to the modern white space of the newly renovated FAC. Erin and Austin's Shove Chapel Wedding (Sneak Peek)

Erin and Austin were married at Shove Chapel Sat., August 15, 2009. Their reception was held at the Fine Arts Center just a couple blocks from Shove. Erin got ready at the Broadmoor Hotel and we arranged for a private moment on the bridge. I also love this shot of Erin walking down the aisle with her Dad. Erin and Austin's wedding day had some cool details like a dove release, scooters for the bridal party and a fiery send-off by sparkler. Erin and Seth's Cheyenne Mountain Resort Wedding (Sneak Peek)

Erin and Seth were married August 1 on the patio overlooking Cheyenne Mountain at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort. Photography was a priority to them so Erin and Seth made enough time for photographs both before and after the wedding. We started the day with a private moment at the ceremony site and then caught a ride down to the golf club for photos on the 18th green. I love this shot (above) of Erin and Seth enjoying a moment together. Erin works at the Broadmoor Hotel and so she also arranged for a photo session by the lake at after the ceremony and we still made it to the cocktail hour in time! Watch for a slide show of their wedding day soon! —Cathy

Ginny and Drew's Garden of the Gods Club Wedding

I posted a sneak peek of Ginny and Drew's Garden of the Gods Club wedding here. Ginny and Drew were married Friday May 1, 2009. Ginny and Drew planned their wedding while they were stationed overseas. They did a wonderful job. Because of the rain, their ceremony was moved to the patio area. Sometimes being closer allows for more photographic possibilities. I love the photograph of Ginny's parents, below. To a photographer, rainy days can be very pleasing. After their wedding, we explored the grounds of the club. I love the picture (above) of Ginny and Drew framed along a walkway. Click here to see a slide show of the Ginny and Drew's wedding. Thanks so much Ginny and Drew for inviting me to be a part of your day! — Sean

Ginny and Drew's Garden of the Gods Club Wedding (Sneak Peek)

On Friday I photographed Ginny and Drew's wedding at the Garden of the Gods Club. They were disappointed in the weather, but it remained a beautiful affair in part because Ginny and Drew make quite a couple. They remained in good spirits throughout and I was able to be more creative with their portrait session —sneaking them off to a seldom visited area to make this dramatic photograph at right. I thought of Titanic when I first saw them standing there. There were also a lot of beautiful moments between Ginny and Drew and their guests. Stay tuned for a slide show of their wedding day soon! — Sean

Sara and Brian's Fine Art Center Wedding

I posted a sneak peek of Sara and Brian's wedding here. They were married on July 19 at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center. Sara is a history teacher, but during the summer she tends bar at one of our favorite outdoor wedding locations, Hillside Gardens. That's how she got to know us and our work, she had been referring couples to us for years. When it came time for her own wedding she already knew who her photographer would be, she already knew she wanted Liz from Ambience Florals to do the flowers and she knew she wanted to see Brian before the wedding, so they could enjoy the reception with their guests. What she didn't know was how cool the "before" photos would be! The first photo of this post is of the two of them sharing a private moment before the wedding. I love Brian's smile, waiting, holding the flowers and Sara's sense of anticipation. No one is talking… all you can hear is the rustling of Sara's dress. This photo never would have happened if they didn't make time to see each other beforehand. What a fun wedding they had! Thank you, thank you Sara and Brian for letting me capture the special moments of your wedding! Click here see a slideshow of their wedding day.— Cathy

Sara and Brian's Fine Arts Center Wedding (A Sneak Peek)

Sara and Brian were married at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center on Saturday, July 19. The Fine Arts Center was closed to weddings and events last year because of a huge remodel project. Sara and Brian's wedding is the first I've photographed in the new wing. And big surprise, it turns out to be a great location for an indoor wedding. The new addition is modern, large and airy with lots of natural light, perfect for an afternoon wedding in July! And while the FAC offered a unique location for their wedding, Sara and Brian had their own ideas of how to plan a memorable wedding. Like planting a cherry tree instead of lighting a unity candle, brewing and bottling beer for gifts for their guests, and at the end of the night, instead of hopping in a limo for a short ride to their hotel, the opted for pedal power, riding their old Schwinn cruisers! I had a great time! Watch for a slide show of their wedding shortly. —Cathy

Angela and Jeff's Broadmoor Wedding

An earlier post gave a sneak peek of Angela and Jeff's wedding. They were married June 7 on the West Lawn at the Broadmoor and hosted cocktails on the patio and dinner for guests in the Ross Room. Carolyn and Colleen of Classic Designs helped them plan their destination wedding. Before the ceremony Angela and Jeff chose to meet near the West Lawn ceremony site for a private moment, afterwards we walked along on the west side of the lake stopping for photographs along the way. All in all Angela and Jeff's wedding day was wonderful. What was especially nice for me was how in-the-moment they and their guests were, everyone focused on celebrating and having fun. Which was great because I could focus on capturing the moments as they unfolded. Thank you Angela and Jeff for inviting me to photograph your wedding! Carrie and Derm's Flying Horse Wedding (A Sneak Peek)

On Saturday I photographed Carrie and Derm's wedding at St. Michaels Church. We first met at The Club at Flying Horse. This is a brand new golf course and spa. It boasts Tuscan architecture and it makes you feel like you're hanging out at a beautiful Italian villa. Carrie and Derm have the kind of style that is perfect for the Flying Horse and we had a ball taking pictures around the grounds. Liz Ash of Ambience Florals did an incredible job with the flowers. I've posted a few photographs but I will be showing a slide show of their wedding in the next week or so. Keep your eye for it and thanks Carrie and Derm for a fantastic day! — Sean
