Photography as drawing
"All I care about these days is painting — photography has never been more than a way into painting, a sort of instant drawing." — Henri Cartier-Bresson In his later years, Henri Cartier-Bresson moved away from photography and towards drawing and painting. The master of the Decisive Moment, HCB always remained an artist first and a photographer second. He often likened his camera to a sort of sketch book. To think this way is important. Not all photographs should be masterpieces. They should first be sketches. In other words, practice makes perfect. That's why I brought a small point and shoot camera with me to our five-day convention in Las Vegas. I used this little point and shoot and practiced my sketching.
