Meagan and Dan's Hillside Gardens Wedding

I posted a sneak peak of Meagan and Dan's wedding here. Meagan and Dan were married at Hillside Gardens over the July 4th holiday.
Our associate Brienne photographed Meagan and Dan's wedding. They held a small ceremony in the late afternoon followed by a catered reception under the Pavilion. Brienne did a wonderful job capturing their day and I'm so pleased with the photographs. It was especially nice to see a photograph of Meagan and Dan walking with their daughter Ashton at the end of the ceremony. They look so happy! Meagan and Dan's Hillside Gardens Wedding (A Sneak Peek)

Meagan and Dan were married Thursday, July 3 at Hillside Gardens. Brienne photographed their wedding day and I was glad that she got to finally photograph a Hillside Gardens wedding. The garden setting is a perfect spot for weddings. Plus, Larry (the owner of Hillside Gardens) has a thing for quirky lawn ornaments:) The outside bar there is also the best hangout for cocktails at sunset that I know of. Meagan and Dan were married in a late afternoon ceremony and they enjoyed a catered reception across the lawn in the Pavilion. Brienne did a fantastic job photographing their wedding. Kim and Galloway's Fox Run Park Wedding

We posted a sneak peak of Kim and Galloway's Fox Run Park wedding here. Brienne photographed their wedding and did a fantastic job. Brienne is an associate photographer for Cayton Photography and she is a perfect fit for wedding couples like Kim and Galloway. Kim and Galloway used the Gazebo at Fox Run Park for their wedding ceremony. It's wonderfully scenic. Aftewards Kim and Galloway enjoyed a ride in Lyle's Buick to their reception at the Mozaic Restaurant at the Inn at Palmer Divide. Mozaic is the new hot spot for weddings and offers a wonderful view of the Rampart Range. Melissa of Moonriver Weddings and Events is a family friend of Kim's and was on hand to help coordinate their wedding day. Kim and Galloway's Fox Run Park Wedding (A Sneak Peek)

Brienne photographed Kim and Galloway's wedding on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Fox Run Park. A reception after their wedding was held at the Mozaic Restaurant at the Inn at Palmer Divide. Melissa of Moonriver Weddings and Events was on hand to help coordinate their wedding day and the photographs are magical. Kim and Galloway are dashing. Between their wedding and their reception they dashed off in Lyle's beautiful Buick. We love Lyle and his Buick. He's a perfect addition to everyone's wedding day. Jill and Jason's Garden of the Gods Club Wedding

were married in a small ceremony outside at sunset at the Garden of the Gods Club. Our associate Brienne Boortz photographed their intimate affair. After the ceremony Jill and Jason enjoyed a cocktail hour with their guests, a dinner in the Sunrise Dining Room and a bit of a post-wedding portrait session. Jill and Jason's Garden of the Gods Club Wedding (A Sneak Peek)

Brienne photographed Jill and Jason's wedding at the Garden of the Gods Club on Saturday. Their wedding was another one of those small, intimate weddings. (Sounds like a trend:) They were married in the afternoon out by the reflecting pool and celebrated that evening with a private dinner with their guests. Brienne did a fantastic job. Kelly and Jeff's Cascade Wedding

I posted recently about Kelly and Jeff's Cascade wedding here. Kelly and Jeff called us a couple of weeks ago. Fortunately Brienne was available and so we arranged for her to photographer their wedding. And it was a fabulous wedding too! Kelly and Jeff decided to see each other before and that gave Brienne the opportunity to make some wonderful portraits of them around the grounds of the Holy Rosary Chapel in Cascade. This schedule also gave Kelly and Jeff the opportunity to really enjoy their wedding day and not have to stop everything to take pictures. Kelly and Jeff were married at Holy Rosary Chapel in Cascade on Saturday.The chapel sits at the base of Pike's Peak in a forest of pine trees. Shannon's Bridal Portait (the slide show)

I posted photographs from Shannon's bridal portrait here and I promised a slide show. So here it is! You might remember that Cathy and I were not the photographers. Rather, our associate photographer Brienne along with our second photographers Surya, Cynthia and Marianne did all of the work. Although it wasn't really work, it was a lot of fun! Shannon was gracious enough to don her dress for a second time; she's happily married and raising a beautiful four-year-old boy. And everyone got to practice their portraiture. I got to practice my photoshop. I took liberties with many of the images in the slide show and really funkified them. So we all got to stretch our wings a bit before a busy season and I'm super glad for it. It's been crazy around here and I haven't had a chance to show some of the work we've been doing. It's not really my work or Cathy's work but work done by our associate photographer Brienne and second photographers Surya, Cynthia and Marianne. By the way, Brienne still has some openings this summer so please call if you're interested in a fantastic photographer for an incredible deal! Surya's friend Shannon, who is already married and has a beautiful four-year-old boy, was willing to put her wedding dress back on so our photographers could get some practice. (A wedding dress really CAN be worn more than once:) And we had a blast photographing her. We will be posting a slide show from the portrait sitting very shortly so stay tuned! — Sean

Welcome Brienne!

We're thrilled to welcome Brienne Boortz as our newest associate. For the past year I've gotten to know and work alongside Brienne at the Colorado Springs Independent. She's passionate about photography and photojournalism. Brienne graduated with a degree in photojournalism from Western Kentucky University. WKU offers one of the premier photojournalism programs in the country. Brienne has worked for several newspapers. She is currently a contract photographer for the Colorado Springs Independent. Prior to that she worked for the Colorado Springs Gazette and The Jackson Hole News & Guide. Brienne's photographic style is defined by clean compositions, an eye for the 'intimate moment'and strong storytelling images. When I first viewed her portfolio, one essay really stood out for me. It's the 50-year love story of Bill and Ruth Orndorff. They have a beautiful family with five children and 20 grandchildren. Brienne documented their lives and really spent time getting to know them.
