Coffee Table Book for Melody

A companion album that we ordered for Melody just arrived in the mail and it's looks great! Melody decided that instead of ordering a lot of prints, to order a book instead. She is Greg's aunt and her daughter was the flower girl at Megan and Greg's wedding at theColorado Springs School. We used the images she had wanted prints and designed an album for here. The book is 8 x 8 with 20 pages. The pages are linen and are laminated for additional protection. I can't wait for Melody to see it! – Sean

Nicole and Joe's Colorado wedding (A Sneak Peek)

I photographed Nicole and Joe's wedding at the Bear Dance Golf Course in Larkspur, Colorado on Saturday. They celebrated afterwards with a reception in the club house. A golf course is a great place for a wedding and Bear Dance does not disappoint! I wandered the course in a golf cart with Nicole and Joe. We agreed that its expansive views of the front range north to south made it a great setting for their wedding. After stopping to take photographs at some of the different holes on the course, I can also see why it's a great place for golf:) Stay tuned for slide show of their wedding day soon! — Cathy

Maggie and Oliver's Colorado Springs Wedding

I posted a sneak peek of Maggie and Oliver's wedding here. They were married August 9, 2008 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Maggie and Oliver held their reception at the Cheyenne Mountain Country Club. Between the church and the club we stopped at the Broadmoor to take some pictures. I love this moment (at left) of Maggie and Oliver practicing their first dance. At the reception, Maggie's family made sure to serenade the wedding couple. When Maggie's brother Mike married Gina last year, Sean photographed the same serenade. I think it's neat that families have special traditions like this. Click here to see a slide show from their wedding. Thank you Maggie and Oliver for letting me your magical day! —Cathy

Maggie and Oliver's Colorado Springs Wedding (A Sneak Peek)

On Saturday I photographed Maggie and Oliver's wedding at St. Paul Catholic Church. They celebrated afterwards with a reception at the Cheyenne Mountain Country Club. You may remember Maggie and Oliver's engagement sitting from last winter. Maggie came to us by referral. Sean photographed her brother Mike's wedding to Gina last October. During the planning stages, Maggie told me she wanted photos with mountains. Unfortunately, you couldn't see any mountains from the church, even though it is very close to Cheyenne Mountain. Nor could you see them at the Cheyenne Mountain Country Club. Not to be deterred…Maggie and Oliver opted for photos at the Broadmoor on the west lawn. As it turned out, it couldn't have been more perfect. We got the mountain views they wanted and we got some great photos on the west side of the Broadmoor! Watch for a slide show of their wedding shortly. —Cathy

Sara and Brian's Fine Art Center Wedding

I posted a sneak peek of Sara and Brian's wedding here. They were married on July 19 at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center. Sara is a history teacher, but during the summer she tends bar at one of our favorite outdoor wedding locations, Hillside Gardens. That's how she got to know us and our work, she had been referring couples to us for years. When it came time for her own wedding she already knew who her photographer would be, she already knew she wanted Liz from Ambience Florals to do the flowers and she knew she wanted to see Brian before the wedding, so they could enjoy the reception with their guests. What she didn't know was how cool the "before" photos would be! The first photo of this post is of the two of them sharing a private moment before the wedding. I love Brian's smile, waiting, holding the flowers and Sara's sense of anticipation. No one is talking… all you can hear is the rustling of Sara's dress. This photo never would have happened if they didn't make time to see each other beforehand. What a fun wedding they had! Thank you, thank you Sara and Brian for letting me capture the special moments of your wedding! Click here see a slideshow of their wedding day.— Cathy

Holly and Adam's Coffee Table Book

I just received Holly and Adam's coffee table book and I can't be more thrilled. I remember when Holly and Adam first reserved us. They wanted to purchase a flush mount album. Flush mount albums are made laminating photographic prints onto the page. I haven't seen a flush mount album yet that doesn't start to de-laminate at some point, especially in humidity. After their wedding Holly and Adam decided against the flushmount and instead chose our 40-page coffee table book. The images in the book are printed ON linen paper. It's bound in the same way the photo books in Borders are. The way our coffee table book is made is the reason why we offer them and not the flush mount albums. Holly and Adam had a fantastic wedding at Pauline Chapel and celebrated afterwards with a reception in the Ross Room at the Broadmoor Hotel. I can't wait for them to see their book! – Cathy

Sara and Brian's Fine Arts Center Wedding (A Sneak Peek)

Sara and Brian were married at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center on Saturday, July 19. The Fine Arts Center was closed to weddings and events last year because of a huge remodel project. Sara and Brian's wedding is the first I've photographed in the new wing. And big surprise, it turns out to be a great location for an indoor wedding. The new addition is modern, large and airy with lots of natural light, perfect for an afternoon wedding in July! And while the FAC offered a unique location for their wedding, Sara and Brian had their own ideas of how to plan a memorable wedding. Like planting a cherry tree instead of lighting a unity candle, brewing and bottling beer for gifts for their guests, and at the end of the night, instead of hopping in a limo for a short ride to their hotel, the opted for pedal power, riding their old Schwinn cruisers! I had a great time! Watch for a slide show of their wedding shortly. —Cathy

Megan and Greg's Colorado Springs Wedding

I posted a sneak peek of Megan and Greg's wedding here. Their wedding was at the Colorado Springs School on Saturday, June 21. When I first got there I found the wedding dress and no bride. No matter…I took the dress around the Trianion for it's own photo session. That time allowed me to get photos of the dress that I normal don't get! One dramatic photo in the front doorway with the dome above it. After their private moment with the Trianion as a backdrop I walked with Megan and Greg around the campus. We went down to the pond behind the school for a couple reflection shots and then back to the front lawn where we did the jumping photo that's in the slide show. Megan and Greg had a lot of fun at their wedding, and photos really reflect that! Thank you both for asking me to be a part of your day! Angela and Jeff's Broadmoor Wedding

An earlier post gave a sneak peek of Angela and Jeff's wedding. They were married June 7 on the West Lawn at the Broadmoor and hosted cocktails on the patio and dinner for guests in the Ross Room. Carolyn and Colleen of Classic Designs helped them plan their destination wedding. Before the ceremony Angela and Jeff chose to meet near the West Lawn ceremony site for a private moment, afterwards we walked along on the west side of the lake stopping for photographs along the way. All in all Angela and Jeff's wedding day was wonderful. What was especially nice for me was how in-the-moment they and their guests were, everyone focused on celebrating and having fun. Which was great because I could focus on capturing the moments as they unfolded. Thank you Angela and Jeff for inviting me to photograph your wedding! Megan and Greg's Colorado Springs Wedding (a sneak peek)

I posted Megan and Greg's engagement session here. Their wedding was at the Colorado Springs School on Saturday, June 21 and they couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day or setting. The Colorado Springs School is K-12 private school during the school year, but in the summer you can rent the grounds for your wedding. The main building is modeled after the Grand Trianon at Versailles, France and it offered the perfect backdrop for a private moment between Megan and Greg before the wedding. I had a great time at their wedding. Watch for a slide show soon! — Cathy

Lynn and Joe's Broadmoor Wedding

Lynn and Joe were married on the South Terrace at the Broadmoor on Friday, June 6. I posted a sneak peek of their wedding here. With help from Colleen of Classic Designs, Lynn and Joe planned a destination wedding for a small group of friends and family. On their wedding day, Joe presented Lynn with a fabulous sapphire pendant that belongs to his mother, something borrowed and very blue to wear on her wedding day:) After a simple but beautiful ceremony on the South Terrace, Lynn and Joe joined their guests for drinks at sunset and dinner in the Penrose Room. The Penrose Room is at the top of the Broadmoor's South Tower. On the ninth floor, the Penrose Room offers views of the lake and mountains to the west and the city to the east. That night we had a perfect view of an impromptu fireworks display. Click here to see a brief slide show of their wedding. Thank you Lynn and Joe for letting me be a part of your wedding! – Cathy

Crystal and John's Colorado Springs Wedding

I posted a sneak peek of Crystal and John's wedding here. Crystal and John were married in an early afternoon ceremony at the First Baptist Church of Black Forest on Saturday, May 31. They had a lot of help from their friends and family. That's what made their wedding so special. Crystal's brother, sister and good friend performed a beautiful hymn. John's boyhood minister from northeastern Colorado married them. After the ceremony Crystal and John left in John's 1971 Ford Mustang for the reception at New Life Church. John and his father worked together to restore the car and it was the perfect get away vehicle. Click here to see a slide show of their wedding. Angela and Jeff's Broadmoor Wedding (A Sneak Peek)

Angela and Jeff were married Sat. June 7th on the West Lawn at the Broadmoor.I love photographing on the West Lawn, it's a beautiful spot that backs up to the golf course. The ceremony site faces several tall trees and when you frame it right, you could be anywhere in Colorado. Of course, you're still at the Broadmoor, so your getting the best of both worlds! Their ceremony was followed by cocktails at sunset and dinner in the Ross Room. Angela and Jeff had a lovely wedding, watch for a slide show of their wedding shortly! —Cathy

Lisa and Jim's Colorado Springs Wedding

I posted a sneak peak of Lisa and Jim's wedding here. They were married on a beautiful spring afternoon Tuesday May 27. I loved photographing their wedding. It was simple: there were only eight guests! It was in a beautiful setting; their ceremony was held in their garden at home. It was elegant; they hosted a private dinner for their guests in the Penrose Room at the Broadmoor. It was fun; a local high school a capella group serenaded them after the wedding. Lisa and Jim met before the wedding for a private moment in the garden and then welcomed their guests into the garden one by one. After exchanging rings, the a capella group sang "Happy Together" and Jim offered a toast to his wife Lisa. The night ended with cocktails, dinner and a wedding cake decorated with these really cool sugar bubbles. Thank you Lisa and Jim for letting me be a part of your day! Megan and Greg's Engagement Sitting

When I met Megan and Greg for their engagement session on Sunday I asked them if they were ready to get cozy and have fun… They were of course! We had a great time roaming the grounds of the Colorado Springs School. We even discovered the pond near the back entrance. I can't wait for their June wedding also at the school. The school has cool architecture. The main building is The Trianon, and sits in a beautiful setting. All of this makes for great photos opportunities:) Click here to see a brief slide show from their engagement sitting. And thanks Megan and Greg, I had a great time! — Cathy

After seeing the first design they decided they wanted more pages. And I think they made the right choice… now the album has more family photos as well as more detail and scene-setting
images. I love it when the album captures the mood of a wedding. This album does it all. — Cathy

Marci and Dan's Fine Art Wedding Book

We just finished Marci and Dan's Fine Art Wedding Book. Marci and Dan decided on a classic black leather cover with a gray mat interiorand white key line around the pictures. This isn't your parent's wedding album. Each album is designed specifically for the couple. Theleaves are permanently bound into the cover of your choice. (And you should see the choices of covers)Every page is unique. Every arrangement is one-of-a-kind. I love the spread where Marci andDan see each other and then you see Marci's reaction. And if you must know, the book is made in New Zealand and assembled by us:) — Cathy

Cathy's Best of 2007

What an incredible year 2007 was for me! Sean and I decided to do two slide shows of some of the highlights of our year. This first one is mine. And with the baby almost here Sean did all the heavy lifting.(Like selecting the pictures and building the slide show:) After watching it, I think a slide show doesn't come close to telling the whole story. My assistants and I made a lot of wonderful pictures, more than can be shown. Together we photographed 13 weddings and made 39,182 total camera impressions (i.e. pictures) that resulted in 8,192 edited wedding images! I will let you work out my batting percentage:) Click here to view the slideshow. This is just some (but not all) of my favorite pictures and wedding day moments from 2007. Thank you to all the fabulous couples who asked me to photograph their wedding. This great year is due in a large part to them, their creativity and their beautiful love stories! —Cathy

Holly and Adam's Pauline Chapel Wedding

You may remember my earlier post of Holly and Adam's September 15 wedding. They were married at the Pauline Chapel, a charming and quaint chapel built in 1918 in the Spanish mission style. After the ceremony Holly and Adam led their guests across the Broadmoor grounds to the reception in the Ross Room. I had never seen the Broadmoor so dramatic as that day! The setting sun lit the main building and the clouds were dark and rolling behind it. The water in the lake was perfectly still and the reflection was gorgeous! Thank you to Holly and Adam to inviting me to photograph your wedding. Click here to see a slideshow of their day. —Cathy

Michelle and David's wedding at Lost Creek Ranch

You may have seen my sneak peek post of Michelle and David's wedding. They were married Saturday, Sept. 8 at a beautiful log mansion outside of Silverthorne, with a magnificent view of the Gore Range. I met Michelle quite by accident, she's the manager of one the bars at the Broadmoor Hotel. I was there to meet with a different bride about a wedding. And while I waited, Michelle flipped through my wedding books. When I met with Michelle and David the next week, I knew I wanted to photograph their wedding. The wedding they were planning was to be an introduction of their family and friends to Colorado and the rocky mountains. And, best of all, they wanted a wedding done their way, no garter, no bouquet, no cake ( but pies yes!). Their day was so relaxed and fun! Thank you Michelle and David for inviting me to photograph your wedding! Click here to see a slideshow of their wedding day. — Cathy

Holly and Adam's Pauline Chapel Wedding (A Sneak Peek)

Holly and Adam were married at Pauline Chapel on Saturday, Sept. 15. They hosted a reception in the Ross Room at the Broadmoor Hotel, just across the street from the Chapel. We did all their photos beforehand and after the ceremony Holly and Adam walked with their guests from the Chapel across the Broadmoor grounds to the Ross Room. Along the way I saw this beautiful view of the Broadmoor reflected in the lake and stopped the entire procession to make the portrait above. Watch for a slideshow of their wedding soon! – Cathy

Michelle & David's wedding at Lost Creek Ranch (a sneak peek)

On Saturday, Michelle and David were married at the Lost Creek Ranch in Silverthorne, Colorado. The Lost Creek Ranch is a vacation property large enough to accommodate wedding couples and their guests. It also has a wonderful view of the Gore Range. Michelle and David invited their families to spend the entire week before the wedding with them. But it wasn't all vacation:) They put them to work baking wedding pies and creating centerpieces for the wedding. Because of every one's participation, when the wedding arrived they were all well-acquainted and ready to party! Keep an eye out for a slideshow of their wedding day soon! — Cathy

Andrea and Shivam's Wedding

You may remember my earlier post on Andrea and Shivam's Pueblo wedding. They were married Aug. 11 at the Rosemont Museum. When I met Andrea and Shivam we immediately hit it off. Once they decided on the Rosemont for their wedding location I knew they were going to have a very Colorado wedding. And as usuall hot weather gave way to afternoon clouds and provided a natural light box for portraits, and some welcome relief from the afternoon sun. All of Andrea's family and friends pitched in to help with the wedding, Gramma baked dozens of homemade cookies, the mariachi band that played during the ceremony and reception were family friends. Andrea and her mother both volunteered at the Rosemont in the past so it was appropriate the gifts to their guests were magnets made from the slate shingles of the Rosemont. Thank you Andrea and Shivam for inviting me to be a part of your fabulous Colorado wedding! Click here to see a slideshow of their wedding day — Cathy

Andrea and Shivam were married Aug. 11 at the Rosemount Museum in downtown Pueblo. The Rosemount is one of those hidden Colorado gems…the grounds are perfect for an outdoor Colorado wedding. Andrea and Shivam arranged to see each other beforehand (we had a whole hour!) so we wandered the grounds in search of nooks and gnarly oak trees. Shivam is from India and the two are planning another wedding there in a month. Watch for a slideshow of their Pueblo affair soon! — Cathy
