Jee and Jong were married Saturday, June 5 at the New Life Methodist Church in Colorado Springs. I posted a sneak peek of their wedding
here. Jee and Jong's wedding day was a family affair, Jee's aunt and the women of the church prepared a Korean feast for the wedding.

When I showed up for the rehearsal there was an army of women preparing all types of traditional Korean fare for the reception. On the day of the wedding, they were there early to finish the final touches to the meal. Jee and Jong had two wedding ceremonies, the first a Christian ceremony, then a traditional Korean ceremony (Pae Baek) for the immediate families. I had never attended a Pae Baek and I had no ideas what to expect. So Jee sent me a link with a description. The Pae Baek is the Korean wedding ritual where the groom's family accepts the bride into their family. Traditional the couple and the groom's family were the only ones in attendance. In a modernized version, both families attend. The table is set tea or rice wine and a variety of foods including dates, chestnuts, sweets and dried meats. The couple serves their families and in turn the families offer their advice and blessing to the couple. While they had more than 100 guests at the Christian ceremony, the Pae Baek was much more intimate with less than 15 people present. Click
