Erin and Austin's Shove Chapel Wedding

Erin and Austin were married Saturday, Aug. 15 at Shove Chapel on the Colorado College campus with a reception at the Fine Arts Center. I posted a sneak peek of their wedding here. Photos were important to them so we planned extra time before their ceremony for pictures with their wedding party. We started at the Broadmoor and then we shot in an alley downtown. We also made some dramatic bridal portraits of Erin in Shove Chapel. Liz of Ambience Florals did an incredible job with their flowers as well as their reception decor. The dining room was decorated with columns of limes in water, a perfect accent to the modern white space of the newly renovated FAC. Erin and Austin's Shove Chapel Wedding (Sneak Peek)

Erin and Austin were married at Shove Chapel Sat., August 15, 2009. Their reception was held at the Fine Arts Center just a couple blocks from Shove. Erin got ready at the Broadmoor Hotel and we arranged for a private moment on the bridge. I also love this shot of Erin walking down the aisle with her Dad. Erin and Austin's wedding day had some cool details like a dove release, scooters for the bridal party and a fiery send-off by sparkler. Stay tuned for a slide show of Erin and Austin's Shove Chapel wedding soon! – Cathy

Premier Bride Launch Party at the Fine Arts Center

Last night Premier Bride magazine held a launch party in the newly renovated Fine Arts Center downtown. Premier Bride is a nationally syndicated magazine that is entering the Colorado Springs wedding market. We were invited along with several other photographers to join in the festivities and show off our work. As an added treat we photographed models wearing wedding gowns from Something New Boutique (great new dress shop in town) using the Fine Arts Center as a backdrop. Maggie Moran of Celebrations by Maggie planned the party. The best wedding professionals in Colorado Springs were invited. To see who showed up beside Jack's look-a-like click here to visit my photo album on Facebook. — Sean

Sara and Brian's Coffee Table Book

Sara and Brian were married in July in the new wing at the Fine Art Center. I first wrote about their wedding here. Their coffee table book
arrived this weekend and it looks great! They decided on extra pages for their book and I love how it turned out. Their wedding wasa lot of fun and their book really captures that. With the additional pages we were able to display larger photos. I love thisshot of them enjoying martinis! Super cute. This was also one of the first weddings we've photographed at the newly renovated Fine ArtsCenter. What a location! If you're planning a wedding for next year and considering locations you have to check it out! We can't wait to photograph there again! We used the space in the atrium for some portraits and I LOVE the cover image. I can't wait for them to see their book! —Cathy

Sara and Brian's Fine Art Center Wedding

I posted a sneak peek of Sara and Brian's wedding here. They were married on July 19 at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center. Sara is a history teacher, but during the summer she tends bar at one of our favorite outdoor wedding locations, Hillside Gardens. That's how she got to know us and our work, she had been referring couples to us for years. When it came time for her own wedding she already knew who her photographer would be, she already knew she wanted Liz from Ambience Florals to do the flowers and she knew she wanted to see Brian before the wedding, so they could enjoy the reception with their guests. What she didn't know was how cool the "before" photos would be! The first photo of this post is of the two of them sharing a private moment before the wedding. I love Brian's smile, waiting, holding the flowers and Sara's sense of anticipation. No one is talking… all you can hear is the rustling of Sara's dress. This photo never would have happened if they didn't make time to see each other beforehand. What a fun wedding they had! Thank you, thank you Sara and Brian for letting me capture the special moments of your wedding! Click here see a slideshow of their wedding day.— Cathy

Sara and Brian's Fine Arts Center Wedding (A Sneak Peek)

Sara and Brian were married at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center on Saturday, July 19. The Fine Arts Center was closed to weddings and events last year because of a huge remodel project. Sara and Brian's wedding is the first I've photographed in the new wing. And big surprise, it turns out to be a great location for an indoor wedding. The new addition is modern, large and airy with lots of natural light, perfect for an afternoon wedding in July! And while the FAC offered a unique location for their wedding, Sara and Brian had their own ideas of how to plan a memorable wedding. Like planting a cherry tree instead of lighting a unity candle, brewing and bottling beer for gifts for their guests, and at the end of the night, instead of hopping in a limo for a short ride to their hotel, the opted for pedal power, riding their old Schwinn cruisers! I had a great time! Watch for a slide show of their wedding shortly. —Cathy

Weddings and receptions at the Fine Arts Center (a local secret)

For those of you in the know, the Fine Arts Center has always been a wonderful venue for weddings and receptions. The museum's architecture, with its art deco design, is nationally recognized and a Colorado Springs landmark. Unfortunately, the FAC has been closed because of construction. But I just got a sneak peak of the new addition which nearly doubles the size of the FAC. This is a spectacular, contemporary building. If you're interested in a modern feel and are looking for a special location for your wedding, reception or both e-mail events@csfineartscenter.org or call the event coordinator 719.634.5581 x302 for details.
